Feeling some pain in the eye, and it hurts when I put any pressure on it. Any ideas of whats causing this?

So last night, my right eye started to feel funny (minor irritation) and I figured it must have been irritation due to dry eyes. Well this morning when I woke up, I felt some pain in my eye and it hurts when I put any pressure on it (such as pushing down on the eyelids). It feels a little like pink eye, but here is the thing. There is no redness and no watery discharge or discharge of pus. No blurred vision either. Just eye pain, my eye gets tired fast when I keep em open for a while, and it is a little itchy on the sides. Other than that, it looks just like my other eye. If the pain does not go down or completely disappear by tomorrow morning I’ll go and see an eye doctor. Is this just a bad case of eye dryness or should I be worried?

Yes, I think this is a bad case of dry eye. I’ve had bloodshot eyes for years, and then one day I woke up with eyes so red I thought I had pink eye, though there was no pus. Went to the doctor, he prescribed antibiotics. A week later… my eye itched, so I rubbed it so hard the clear part swelled up. The next morning, I felt like my lashes were inside out and digging into my eye, even though I couldn’t see anything in there. Since I was misdiagnosed with pinkeye, I went this time to an ophthalmologist and she diagnosed me with dry eye. She gave me steroid drops, which took away the pain and swelling. I have an especially bad case, so I’m on Restasis and have to go back for a checkup in July. I also have to use OTC drops and stay away from contacts as much as possible (I rarely wear them now).
Your symptoms sound just like mine. Go to an ophthalmologist instead of a PCP and save yourself the hassle.
