Eye Problems Floaters Flashes

Symptoms of retinal detachment – quick action can save your eyes
The retinal detachment surgery
Surgery is the only treatment for retinal detachment. The goals of surgery are:
* To reattach the retina. See illustration a detached retina.
* To prevent or reverse vision loss.
Nearly all retinal detachments can be repaired by surgery Pneumatic retinopexy or bleeding.
But even with a high success rate of surgery, it is important to act quickly. The longer wait to have surgery, the greater the chances that good vision is restored. Once the retina loses contact with its layers of support, vision begins to deteriorate. An ophthalmologist (eye doctor) who specializes in retinal detachment usually operate in a few days after being diagnosed with a detachment.
How long does it need surgery usually depends on whether you have retinal detachment or could spread far enough to affect vision central. Once the macula, the part of the retina that allows the Central vision loses contact with the bottom layer, quickly loses its ability to process what the eye seen.
* After the surgery while the macula is usually still attached to the rescue. But surgery restores good vision in less than half those who undergo surgery after the macula has already detached.
* If the stain has spread, surgery may be delayed. If more than a few days have passed since the release occurred, severe central vision loss may have occurred, and surgery is much less likely to restore vision completely.
Your doctor will decide how long you need surgery on the basis of the results of examination of the retina and experience the medical treatment Retinal detachment.
Surgery for retinal tears
Treating a retinal tear can be useful if the break is likely lead to separation. Symptoms such as floaters or flashes of light are the key factor in deciding the treatment of a tear. A tear that occurs right after of a posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) with symptoms is usually much more dangerous and more likely to progress to retinal detachment as that which occurs without symptoms.
In deciding when to treat a tear in the retina, the doctor will determine if the retina is likely to get broken. If the tear is very likely to lead to detachment, Treatment usually can fix and prevent detachment and potential vision loss. If the tear is not give rise to an assignment, you may not need treatment.
Choosing surgery
The most common methods to repair a retinal detachment are:
* Scleral buckling surgery. This is the most common way to repair a detached retina. The eye doctor place a piece of silicone sponge, rubber or plastic outer layer of semi-rigid eye and sewn into place. This relieves traction on the retina, preventing tears from getting worse, and is compatible with the layers of the retina.
Pneumatic retinopexy *. In this procedure, the doctor injects a gas bubble in the center of the eyeball. The gas bubble floats to the independent press and a little against retinal detachment, flattening so that the fluid below it can be reabsorbed. The eye doctor then uses a freezing probe or laser cryopexy (Photocoagulation) to seal the retinal tear.
* Vitrectomy. Is the removal of vitreous humor of the eye. Vitrectomy gives your eye doctor better access the retina and other tissues. Allows you to peel scar tissue in the retina, repair holes, close to tears, and directly coupled to a retinal detachment.
The most common methods of repairing a retinal tear are:
* Laser photocoagulation, in which an intense beam travels through the eye and makes tiny burns around the tear in the retina. Burns scarring that prevent fluid getting under the retina.
* Cryoplexy (freezing) where your eye doctor uses a probe to freeze and seal the retina around the tear.
The decision about when to treat a retinal tear is based on whether the break is likely to progress to a retinal detachment. If the tear is not likely to take a detached, treatment may not be necessary.
What
You have several options for surgical repair of retinal detachment. Its success in restoring good vision varies from case to case. The cause, location and type of detachment that determine general, the surgery will work best. Other conditions or eye problems may also play a role in choosing the best type of surgery.
You may need additional surgery to reattach the retina. The growth of scar tissue on the surface of the retina often leads to failure of retinal detachment surgery.
Factors that can make surgery more difficult include:
* Glaucoma.
* Students who are not (expansion).
* Infection inside or outside of the eye.
* The scars of previous surgery.
* Bleeding (hemorrhage) in the vitreous.
* The scars of the cornea or disorder.
* Lens opacity (cataract).
