Is Masterbation the reason for my eye floaters?
I want toknow the truth some say yes some say no. I’m 15 been masturbating for over a year now and a few months ago I noticed a block do in my right eye. Stays still but very irritating and recently I’ve noticed a bunch if floAters I went to the eye doctor who said it was the shadow of the liquid changing states in my eye sac. But I don’t know about that caue wouldn’t it Be done by now?
There’s usually no connection between eye floaters and masturbation unless you have some very unusual build-up of pressure in your eye that’s causing the gel-like vitreous humor to break loose and liquify more than it would normally do in someone your age. If you’re in otherwise good health, there shouldn’t be any problem or connection between the two.
However, if you suspect any problem, you might want to see an ophthalmologist or other eye specialist immediately* and then have regular eye exams every couple of years (or as required) thereafter. Problems such as detached retinas and other conditions and complications can, if treated early, be prevented from becoming *worse* eye and vision problems!
Floaters and spots typically appear when tiny pieces of the eye’s gel-like vitreous humor start to break loose within the inner back portion of the eye. When we are born, and throughout our childhood, this vitreous humor has a gel-like consistency. However, as we age, the vitreous humor begins to dissolve and liquefy to create a more watery center. When we see floaters, they are actually clumps of protein in this melting vitreous humor, and they may look like dots, squiggles, strands or hundreds of other shapes. Though they might be annoying, floaters are actually quite harmless.

Science has debunked all of these myths, so please don’t add guilt or shame to what should really be a pleasureable and natural experience.

*If you suddenly see a shower of floaters and spots, sometimes accompanied by light flashes, you should seek medical attention immediately. The sudden appearance of these symptoms could mean that the vitreous is pulling away from your retina or that the retina itself is becoming dislodged from the inner back of the eye that contains blood, nutrients and oxygen vital to healthy function. When the retina is torn, vitreous can invade the opening and push out the retina — leading to a detachment. Getting help immediately can save your eye and vision. In cases of retinal tear or detachment, action must be taken as soon as possible so that an eye surgeon can reattach the retina and restore function before vision is lost permanently.
