How long after you start taking an antibiotic does it take effect?
I have possibly had the flu for over a week now (the doctor didn’t test me because I didn’t come in until a week after I had symptoms) but I was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection, tonsillitis, and pink eye. I want to disinfect my sheets and other things, but don’t want to do it too soon if they are just going to get the germs on them again. How long should I wait?
Antibiotics have no effect on viral infections.
If, on the other hand, you had a strep throat and you were prescribed penicillin, you could be feeling better within 12 – 18 hours after the first dose.
