Pink Eye Purple Hull Peas

Cross breeding pink eye purple-hull peas and lima beans…?
My aunt planted pink eye purple-hull peas and lima beans side by side and we got some very strange out come. one of the pods came out white or creamy colored with pink streaks. the peas or beans or whatever they are look the same. the pod is shaped like a lima bean pod and the beans or peas look like lima beans. is there a possibility that this is a crossbreed and what is it??? Thanks so much
It is possible but since peas and beans are different species in the same plant Family its not that likely in my opinion. A lot of it depends on how close the two plants are genetically as a rule. If it did occur and the seed proved viable and you were able to stabilize and get it to remain true in form for several more generations then you might actually have a marketable item here. Otherwise just enjoy the accident and hopefully they are edible and good tasting as well as visually attractive. Good luck.
