Pink Eye Viral Conjunctivitis

Viral Conjuctivitis? AKA Pink-Eye…Experiences?

My daughter has a cold/upper respiratory infection and woke this morning with a redness in the inside corner of her left eye. I know it is common to get pink-eye when you have a cold but I am not convinced this is pink-eye. She isn’t itching her eyes, there is no discharge from her eye and it is only slightly watering (almost not at all). What do you think…pink-eye or just an irritated eye?
I know they do not treat viral conjunctivitis unless it is bothering the child or showing signs of progression, which she is not experiencing. I am just wondering if your kids ever had pink-eye in just the corner of one eye?

Chances are that she just has irritation from the swelling in her nasal passages. She could be experiencing an allergy along with her cold. Everything is in hypermode right now and something as simple as humidity or dust could cause and irritation for her. If she wakes up and has any kind of “gunk” in the corners or lashes of the eye then it could be pink eye and she needs meds.
