Refresh Dry Eye Therapy Cloudy

Dry eyes, contacts, and “Refresh Dry Eye Therapy”?

I was just told by my opthamologist that my cloudy vision was brought on by not any form of infection, but dry eye. She’s given me collagen plugs and I have a follow up appt in a few days. In the meantime, though, she told me to continue using rewetting drops when I use my contact lenses and artificial tears.

My question is about OTC artificial tears. I purchased “Refresh Dry Eye Therapy” to use when I don’t have my lenses on (exp. at bedtime/when I first wake), but after reading that “preservative free” drops are better, I’m not sure if I should keep them or return them to the store.

Has anyone used these before? If so, did they bother your eye in any way or were they helpful? I’m trying to obtain the best brand for my problem. Also, I know that I shouldn’t use these drops with lenses, but I’d like to be aware of any possible side effects that would interfere with lens usage.

Thanks!

For some peoploe the preservative free drops are bette, but for th emost part he preservative in the Refresh usually dissipates in about 10 minutes. The only greif that it would caouse your lenses is that the preservative might make your lenses irritating because some lenses hold on to certain substances like velcro that might cause irritation. My dry eye is not as bad as yours, but it is pretty bad and I have used the Refresh products as well and they are good. I use Optive with my contacts in. I even kept my contacts in on a long flight for about 6 hours and then took them out to try to sleep. The Optive let me wear them longer than I hever had before on a plane. I love the Optive. It is expensive, but you can use it with your contacts as well, and that is a bonus. You can use the Refresh products when you wake up and before bed as usually, but cary the Optive with you for when your contacts are dry. You might love it! I also take a flax seed oil capsuel once in the morning and once at night. This has helped me tremendously. O^O
