Severe Eye Infections
What causes severe loss of eyelashes (up to 20 daily). The last two years i’ve lost over 75% of my lashes.
I’m 36 and over the last two years I’ve suffered dramatic loss of eyelashes which is very upsetting being a female and having enjoyed normal eyelashes all my life. Now they are disappearing rapidly and I don’t know what to do. My eyelids are itchy as well but i rarely have eye infections. A dermatologist said it was possibly alopecia arriata although does this cause itching? I’m so depressed about it. Help!
It does sound like alopecia. Have you noticed any other areas of hair loss? Even mild hair loss? Your eyelashes may be the only hair loss you will ever have. (based on you actually having alopecia) Go see another derm for a second opinion. Alopecia is treated with cortisone injections, cortisone creams and a few other topical creams, but you cannot treat eyelashes with any of those so definitely get a 2nd opinion.
