Viral Pink Eye

Should I be using Naphcon A to relieve viral pink eye?
By viral pink eye I mean viral conjunctivitis. What I want to relieve is the redness. I read somewhere that viral conjunctivitis doesnt really have a cure and it goes away on its own and that I can relieve some of its nasty symptoms (like redness and itching) until then by using eye drops.
This is correct; viral pink eye (epidemic keratoconjunctivits) is self-limiting, meaning it will go away on its own and nothing can be done to cure it.
Naphcon-A is a good choice to relieve redness and itching. It has a vasoconstrictor in it to decrease the redness, as well as an antihistamine to decrease the itching.
Be careful not to overuse the drops, though, because vasoconstrictors can have what’s called a “rebound effect,” meaning the redness can rebound and look even worse if the drops are used too often.
